Hi! I hope you’re having a great weekend. Before we get to the weekly workout recap, I had to share one of my favorite weekend traditions… egg sandwiches. Nothing is better than waking up, having a couple cups of coffee, and enjoying a delicious egg sandwich.
We usually make ours with a toasted whole grain English muffin, scrambled eggs with crushed red pepper (the secret ingredient):
Trader Joe’s smoked gouda (this is probably the best cheese ever)
And bacon! (we switch it up between turkey and regular)
And of course, B gets a slice of bacon (her favorite weekend tradition)
This week in workouts:
Sunday – rest
Monday – one mile treadmill run + circuit workout
Tuesday – rest (does Christmas shopping count?)
Wednesday – Fusion class
Thursday – rest
Friday – Fusion class
Saturday – rest
Not my most inspiring week ever, but every little bit counts!
Happy Sunday, I hope you had a great weekend!
This week my workout routine started out pretty slow, but ended on a good note:
Sunday – rest
Monday – rest
Tuesday – rest
Wednesday – 1 hr Fusion class
Thursday – 45 min. spinning class
Friday – 1 hr Fusion class
Saturday – Jingle Bell 5k
This week we have our ugly Christmas sweater party at work and the quest to find the perfect sweater is not an easy one (especially when you wait until the week before). I have a feeling I may be creating my own ugly sweater. But I found a couple ideas on the internet that made me laugh, so I thought I would share.
This one really cracked me up, such a creative hilarious idea:
And this one was just cute, you would never expect it from the front:
Speaking of Christmas ideas, I also made a couple of videos using the elf yourself website. I know this site has been around for a while, but this is the first year I’ve really used it and I could not stop laughing. If you’ve never checked it out, you can add any picture (up to 5) and preview your video for free, and for $1.99 you can keep your creation and enjoy the ridiculousness forever!
Hi there! I can’t believe the week is finally coming to an end, did it seem long to anyone else??
This week I switched it up a bit and tried a new gym routine. I love running when the weather is nice, but living in PA in the winter, and working a full-time desk job… it is cold and dark by 6pm and those are not favorable running conditions at all. So I’m trying to take a different approach to staying in shape this winter!
So I put on my big girl pants and I tried a new gym this week. One of my colleagues happened to send me a groupon for a gym that I had never heard of called Umberger Performance. If you’re in the Pittsburgh area and you’re looking for a new fitness routine so far I really like it. I forgot how intimidating it is to walk into a new place where you don’t know anyone and have no idea what to expect. But everyone was very friendly and welcoming.
This is what my routine is shaping up to look like this week:
Monday – rest
Tuesday – spinning
Wednesday – fusion class
Thursday – rest
Friday – fusion class
Saturday – hot yoga (power vinyasa)
Sunday – run
I have noticed since changing up my routine that I have been extra hungry! We seem to keep ending up in Mexico on Friday nights, but nothing ends the week quite like a big margarita with
some a healthy helping of chips and salsa (that was our second salsa bowl of the evening). mmmmmm.
How do you stay in shape during the winter months?
Happy Monday! Today officially marks 25 days until Christmas (holy crap, where does the time go??). After all of the food and relaxing I did the past few days, I definitely need some motivation and some detox today.
With a super busy schedule at work and leftovers calling my name from the fridge, I ended up having pizza for lunch today (total fail, whoops).
But to make-up for my shortcomings, I have created the following circuit workout that I plan to complete tonight. The great thing about this workout is that it can be completed at home if you don’t have time in your busy schedule to get to the gym. All you need is a set of dumbbells (or a big imagination)…
First thing is first, Happy Thanksgiving!! If you are reading this I hope you are prepping for a day filled with delicious food and quality time with loved ones.
As I was watching the news this morning and drinking my coffee (I love mornings, I know it’s not normal), there was a segment claiming that Thanksgiving is now the biggest fitness day of the year. All this time I’ve been hearing and repeating the age-old “the night before Thanksgiving is the biggest drinking night of the year”, so this came as a surprise to me.
So now I wonder… has the world really become a place where we value health and fitness over binge drinking? Am I just getting old? or is someone lying to us? …this is the same place where stores are now opening at 5pm on Thanksgiving day…
Let’s hope for the first option. It seems like many gyms this year have special Thanksgiving morning classes, which is awesome. I was planning to go to hot yoga, but I had to re-arrange a few things so I’m going to try to squeeze in a circuit workout. Something like the 4th workout on this website!
I also thought I would share this awesome Thanksgiving Survival Guide from Spark People, if you’re looking for some additional tips to survive all of the glorious food.
Regardless of whether you work out today or not, let’s all just stay calm and wear our stretchy pants. 🙂
And it’s a short work week, yay! But with the short week and all of the fun holiday plans it’s hard to stay motivated, so I needed a little motivation myself. I usually try to plan my weekly workouts and a few dinner meals on Monday morning (a little late today, but better late than never).
This is what my week is shaping up to look like:
Monday – circuit workout (Body Works Plus Abs class at LA Fitness)
Tuesday – 45 minute AM spinning class
Wednesday – circuit workout (Pinterest is a great source to find workouts to take to the gym with you)
Thursday – hot yoga class
Friday – turkey trot
Saturday – run 5 miles
Sunday – rest
You may be wondering why the turkey trot falls on black Friday… My family is celebrating Thanksgiving on Friday this year to accommodate everyone’s busy schedules, so I have created my own turkey trot (and I may also be the only one running in it) 🙂
I usually try to plan my running days around the weather and alternate cardio and strength days.
Now to stick to the plan…
I hope your week is off to a good start!
